Its hard to believe how far Matt Corby has developed style wise since his appearance on Australian idol, a rare gem from programmes often filled with sob stories and unnecessary drama. This is stunning. Enjoy.

Easter :)
This could be possibly my shortest post so far, due to lack of words to explain this performance..

Here we go!
Here we go, into March. I'm hoping someone has noticed that after 15 weeks, I have stopped the weekly post, and now hope to be working off inspiration, when I find an artist or band I like so much I want to write about them and share them, or if I'm simply hooked on a song I need to share with the World I shall do so :) I will make sure I post a few times a month though to keep this going :)
And this post is a treat :)
Angus and Julia Stone are a brother and sister duo from Australia, originating from Sydney. Gaining influence from their parents, who also played as a folk acoustic duo before the two were born, Angus and Julia combined musical talents in 2005. Since forming they have released an impressive 6 EPs, two albums and a compilation album to go with them.
They are signed to multiple globally recognised labels and their music is listed as triple platinum in their home country, as well as reaching number one, it's fair to say they're doing ok for themselves! They have several songs that stand out such as 'Paper Aeroplane', which has gained a lot of praise, along with the rest of their work to date.
I feel all their music stands out individually however, and in a great way. Each track they have written blends an acoustic folk feel with blues and sweet harmonies. Definitely recommending them to you no matter what your taste is!
Think that's all for now, I will leave you with this great cover..
Juice :)

Artist In The Spotlight: Week 13
Having been on the music scene since 2001, Trevor Hall has a good ten years of experience, which really shows in his lyrics.
Best known for his music appearing in the 'Shrek' films, his blend of acoustic and alternative rock, with a dash of reggae really works! Sine releasing his first album in 2005, Trevor Hall has created a further 9 albums, although not all have been released publicly.
This quote is taken from his biography, where he is taking about his time at 'Idyllwild school of the arts', which really shows he is a down to Earth guy who is genuinely grateful for the position he is in and the opportunities he has had, which really reflects in his honest lyrics and laid back approach:
'My greatest lesson there was observing how art spoke to everyone…no matter what race, what faith, or what country you were from. I saw how it brought people together, and that made me feel good.'

Here is one of my favourites to finish, an acoustic performance of one of his songs called 'All I ever know', enjoy!

Artist In The Spotlight: Week 11
Likened to Ray LaMontagne and Ben Harper, Swindon born Josh Kumra has already started gaining a name for himself, despite having played only locals gigs up to now.
Featuring on the single 'Don't Go' by Wretch 32, Josh has also delivered an acoustic version which is starting to gain a lot of attention on youtube.
It seems that he has come almost out of nowhere, with his acoustic version hitting 200,000 views and counting already, having only been put up at the end of August 2011. He also has a couple of other tracks on youtube, including a free download available from his website, which is well worth checking out.. http://www.joshkumra.com
The good news is that he has said he is currently spending a lot of time in the studio writing and recording, having signed with EMI records a couple of months back, it will be interesting to see which way his music goes, as a lot of his youtube videos are laid back, chilling acoustic performances, though he may be tempted to stay mainstream and record more with the likes of Wretch 32.. We shall have to wait and see!

Sound of 2012: Week 10
The nominations for the 'BBC sound of 2012' are out, and flicking through some of the nominations excites me, so much fresh new music to look forward to! There seems to be a great mix, ranging from the soulful voice of Michael Kiwanuka, to dubstep artist Skrillex. I'm going to pick a couple of my favourites from the short list of 15..
http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/soundof/2012/
Dot Rotten - To be completely honest, I hadn't heard much of him before seeing him on the list, however after listening to 'Keep It On A Low', I'm impressed. This isn't the kind of music I go for admittedly, however I can see him storming the charts in 2012, helped by his extensive touring into the new year.
Dry The River - Having heard them back in the summer, I've been hooked to the unique vocals and smart build up, especially in tracks such as 'No Rest', where you can almost feel the band bursting with emotion. One to look out for without a doubt.
Jamie N Commons - Definitely the debut I'm most excited about for 2012. As BBC rightly put it, 'With a whiskey and nicotine soaked growl of a voice, a five piece band and a bunch of songs that sound like they were uncovered in an attic where they'd been lying there since 1959 waiting for Johnny Cash or Nick Cave to cover them, Jamie N. Commons makes it hard to believe that he's only 22.' Need I say more.
Lianne La Havas - Bon Iver called her his 'favourite Brit', after being invited on tour with Justin Vernon after appearing on Later.. With Jools Holland. It was this appearancethat has earnt her a wider audience, who currently have an EP to enjoy, although I'm sure many are looking forward to new releases to come in the new year.
